about Peggy Kurtz

Peggy as Eliza Doolitle 

With more than 35 years experience, soprano Peggy Kurtz provides award-winning instruction to her students. Her students have performed major roles in local youth theatre and school music theatre productions, as well as winning NATS and scholarship competitions. Some have worked professionally in New York, San Francisco, Minneapolis, and LA.  

Ms. Kurtz is motivated by her love of singing and passion to share her knowledge with others so their creativity and talent can shine.   Previously a professor of voice at Trinity Lutheran College, she served on the voice faculty at Everett Community College and  is active in both NATS and the Snohomish County Music Teachers Association.  She has served as an adjudicator for MTNA and WMEA, and is the Music Director for Central Lutheran Church in Everett, WA.

Peggy Kurtz earned her bachelor of music in music education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  She is a proud Certified McClosky voice technician, which includes intensive study in voice disorders, relaxation, and anatomy. Additional studies include a year at the Escuela Superior de Canto, in Madrid, Spain, and a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Pacific Lutheran University, as well as completing level 2 of Somatic Voicework and belt training with Ann Evans.   Because Ms. Kurtz is fluent in Spanish, she is able to teach lessons in Spanish to accommodate students.
